How we write and check the pages on this site

Who writes these pages

The BubSync editorial team is the two founders, named on the story page, plus the tools we use to draft and check copy. A person is responsible for every published sentence. Nothing is published at volume, and nothing is published because a keyword tool suggested it: each page exists because a parent asks the question in its title, and because we can answer it from published guidance or from how our own product actually works.

• Ashley, co-founder and software engineer. Ashley is a software engineer, a dad of two (nearly three), and one half of the family behind BubSync. He built the app in Brisbane between night feeds and full-time work.
• Sarah, co-founder. Sarah is a co-founder of BubSync, working across brand, product and customer experience with the practical lens of a mother of two, with a third on the way.

Where the numbers come from

Every figure about babies on this site, a wake window, a wet nappy count, a formula volume, a growth percentile, is attributed on the page to the health authority that published it, with a link: Raising Children Network, Pregnancy, Birth and Baby, Children's Health Queensland, the Australian Breastfeeding Association, Red Nose, the World Health Organization, the NHS, and the others each tool page lists under “Where these numbers come from”. Where a source publishes a range we publish the range; where it publishes one figure we publish that figure and do not invent a spread around it. Australian sources are preferred, and Australian words are used throughout: nappies, dummies, child health nurses.

What we never do with those numbers

Our free tools look up a published row and do arithmetic on it. They never say what a result means for your baby. There is no threshold, no “in range” or “below”, and no message that appears, changes or escalates because of a number you typed. The warning signs a page shows are the same for every reader and render before anything is entered. A screening test for an infant is not general parenting information however carefully it is worded, so we do not build one, and we say on every page who to ask instead: your GP, midwife or child health nurse.

Clinical review

No page on this site has yet been reviewed by an independent clinician, and every guide, tool and audience page says so in its byline rather than implying otherwise. We are recruiting a named Australian midwife or maternal and child health nurse to review the pages that touch feeding, sleep and nappies. When a page has been reviewed, its byline will name the reviewer, their registered credential and the date, and this paragraph will change.

Facts about other apps

The comparison pages name real products made by real teams, so the bar is higher than for ordinary marketing copy. Every claim is checked against the other company's own published material; if we cannot verify a claim, it is not on the page. Every set of facts carries the date it was checked and a link to the source so a reader can see what is true today. Every comparison names what the other app does better than BubSync, and every one says where BubSync is the wrong choice. Where a claim comes from users rather than from the company, the page says “users report” rather than stating it as fact.

Those dates are not left to memory. A scheduled check reminds us to re-verify any fact set older than 90 days, and the site cannot be built at all with a fact set older than 180days, because at that age “checked on” is no longer a claim we can defend.

Disclosure

We make BubSync. Every comparison page says so above the comparison, not in a footnote, and the category roundup discloses where our own app sits and why it is held back by the very things it lacks. We take no advertising, run no affiliate links, and accept no money from formula, pharmaceutical or employer-benefits companies. When a page recommends another app, it is because we think it is the better fit for the reader described, and the recommendation costs us a customer.

AI on this site and in the app

BubSync's AI hub generates schedules, rhythms and summaries from a family's own logged data. Every page that describes it also says the same thing: AI-generated schedules, summaries and suggestions are general guidance generated from your logged data, and never medical advice. The AI hub is a product feature; it does not write the pages on this site.

Corrections

If a figure on this site is wrong, a source has changed, or a claim about another app is out of date, email hello@bubsync.com. We correct the page rather than the comments, and where a correction is material we note it on the page. Competitors are welcome to point out anything we have got wrong about them; the pages exist to be accurate, not to win.

Dates

Tool pages carry the date they were first published. Comparison pages carry the date their facts were checked. The sitemap carries the date each page's content last actually changed, taken from the change history of the files that render it rather than from the build clock, so a date on this site means something.
