Getting started

What is BubSync?
BubSync is a pre-release baby tracking app built for shared care. Log feeds, nappy changes, sleep and growth in one place, with offline logging from day one. Live family sharing is a Premium feature and is available now; sending a 24-hour handover link to someone outside the app is free.
How do I get BubSync?
On Android, install it from Google Play. On iPhone, the app is now available for testing through Apple TestFlight: install Apple's free TestFlight app, tap our invite link, and BubSync installs from there. Both are open testing builds, so anyone can join without an invite code, and the installed app is how BubSync is designed to be used day to day. You can also carry on in the web app at app.bubsync.com from any browser.
Which platforms does BubSync support?
All three: Android, iPhone and the web. The Android pre-release is live on Google Play through open testing, the iPhone app is now available for testing through Apple TestFlight, and the web app runs in any modern browser for the times you want a bigger screen. The public App Store listing is still to come. Subscribe for launch updates and we will let you know when it lands.
What does pre-release mean for me?
Pre-release means BubSync is in open testing on both phone platforms: it is free to install, updates land often, and some features are still being polished. Your data is stored the same way it will be at launch. On Android the Google Play listing stays at the same address when we move from open testing to general release, so you will not need to reinstall. On iPhone you are running a TestFlight build, which expires every 90 days and prompts you to update. When the App Store listing goes live you install the released app once and carry on with the same account and the same data.
What is TestFlight, and is it safe to use?
TestFlight is Apple's own beta-testing service, and the app you install it from is made by Apple. Every build we send through it is reviewed by Apple before testers can install it. Joining takes two taps and no invite code, it costs nothing, and you can leave at any time by deleting the app. The practical differences from an App Store install are that builds expire after 90 days and you update through TestFlight rather than the App Store.
Is BubSync free?
Yes. The free tier covers up to 2 babies with unlimited local history, all eight built-in activity types, snapshots of the last feed, sleep and nappy change, your baby book with milestones and photos, collages, a welcome poem for each baby, insights for 1 and 7 days, and a 24-hour handover link you can send to a sitter. Premium adds cloud sync and live family sharing, unlimited babies and carers, the AI hub, growth charts, 30 and 90-day insights, exports, and custom activity types. Joining the Android open test or the iPhone TestFlight beta costs nothing either way.
How do I create an account?
Install the pre-release from Google Play, or the iPhone beta from TestFlight, then tap Sign Up and create your account with an email address. Adding your first baby takes about a minute. You can sign in to the same account from the web app whenever you need it.
Can I sign in with Google?
Yes, on Android and in the web app. On iPhone you sign in with an email address and a password. Either way your session renews silently, so you are not signed out every few days.
Is there a dark mode?
Yes. Settings offers Light, Dark and System, and it applies everywhere immediately. There is also a separate night mode: between 7 pm and 7 am the waking-capture screen goes near-black with a warm dim foreground, no white flash and no sound, whatever your theme is set to. That one is about not waking the baby rather than about preference.
How fast is logging, really?
Quick Log puts the common entries one tap away: start a sleep, a one-hour sleep, wet or dirty nappy, a bottle at one of your usual sizes, or a breastfeed on either side with the timer already running. Reach it by long-pressing the plus button, or from your phone home screen without opening the app first. You can also set up a Siri Shortcut or a Google App Action, so "Hey Siri, log bottle" records one with your hands full.

Sharing & family

How do I invite my partner or carer?
Family admins invite a partner or carer from the Family tab with a reusable invite link or code. Live family sharing and cloud sync are Premium features. If you just need to brief one person for one evening, the 24-hour handover link is free and works in any browser without an account.
Can carers get handover instructions and notifications?
Yes, and the instructions themselves are free. Any parent can write care essentials (comforts and likes, sensitivities and dislikes) plus a full instruction manual, and share them either as a 24-hour link or with a carer in the family. Premium adds the live handover notifications that tell the next carer what is due next.
How many people can share one baby?
Premium supports unlimited family members on one subscription. We do not charge per person. The free tier is designed for local solo logging, plus handover links for anyone helping occasionally.
Can I manage multiple babies?
Yes. BubSync supports multiple babies on one account. Tap the baby switcher at the top of the timeline to switch between babies. Free plan supports 2 babies; Premium supports unlimited.
Can a carer see one baby without seeing my whole family?
Yes, and this is the part most trackers cannot do. When you invite someone, you say who they are: a parent, family, a carer, or a mix you choose yourself, and you pick which babies they can see. A carer sees and logs activities for those babies only. Family can be given the memories and nothing else. If you change what a whole group sees later, it applies to what you already shared, and any single entry can carry its own answer to who can see it. Role-scoped sharing is a Premium feature.
We are co-parenting across two households. Does that work?
Yes. Every family you are a parent in is a profile you can switch between, so accepting a co-parent invite does not mean giving up the family you already run. The profile you are not in contributes nothing on that device: no babies, no timeline, no memories, no notifications. Either parent can add babies, rename the family and manage who is invited. Switchable family profiles are a Premium feature.
How do I know the other person actually got what I logged?
Each record shows whether it was sent, delivered to the other devices in your family, and seen on them, the way a messaging app does. Changes land in seconds, including on the web app and on phones with notifications turned off, so nobody has to pull to refresh to find out. Delivery receipts come with Premium, because they are about more than one device.

Premium

What does Premium include?
Premium unlocks cloud sync and live family sharing, unlimited family members, unlimited babies, your history backed up and restored on any device, the AI hub (day schedules, sleep rhythms, play ideas, milestones to look for, and insight summaries), care handover notifications, custom milestones, 30 and 90-day insights charts, growth charts, PDF/JSON/CSV exports, custom activity types, and priority support.
Is Premium really free while you are in testing?
Join the open testing and the whole app is yours until 31 October 2026: live family sharing, the AI hub, growth charts, the lot. No card, nothing to cancel, and nothing to do when it ends. We are taking on as many testers as we can properly look after, so we may close it before then. Open BubSync Premium in the app by tapping the sync status on your home screen, or any Premium feature. A “Beta tester? Thank you!” card sits at the top. One tap on Claim free Premium and it is done. No card there? Then this round has filled up. The free tier stays free either way, and Premium comes with a 1-month trial whenever you want to try it.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. New paid-tier accounts receive a 1-month free trial. After that, Premium is A$9.99 a month or A$79.99 a year in Australia, with the equivalent set by your own app store elsewhere. The free tier stays free with no trial and no card, so you can install from Google Play or the iPhone TestFlight beta and start logging today.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Cancel from the App Store or Google Play subscription settings on your device. Paid access continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and you then move to the Free plan.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Premium subscribers can export from the History and Growth tabs using the share button on each, choosing PDF, JSON or CSV. If you need something the in-app export does not cover, email support@bubsync.com and a real person will help.
I have a promo code. Where do I use it?
Open BubSync Premium in the app, then tap "Have a promo code?" at the bottom of the screen. That hands you to the App Store or Google Play redemption sheet, because store codes are redeemed by the store rather than by us. If you followed a campaign link instead, the app opens straight onto that offer and the exact terms are stated on the button before you buy anything. Codes are redeemed on Android or iPhone rather than in a browser, and each one carries an expiry set at the store.

Memories, milestones & AI

What is the baby book?
The Memories tab is your baby's digital baby book: every first you celebrate, in the order it happened, from first smile to first steps. BubSync suggests the milestones to watch for around your baby's age so you never miss recording one, and the whole family shares in each celebration. Recording built-in milestones is free; custom milestones are a Premium feature.
Does my baby really get a personalised poem?
Yes. When you welcome a new baby, BubSync writes a short, one-of-a-kind poem about them, drawn from the details you add. The first poem is free for every baby, and you can choose to keep it in their memories to re-read and share any time.
What is the AI hub?
The AI hub is one place for everything BubSync generates. Pick an action (Day schedule, Sleep rhythm, Play ideas, Milestones to look for, or an Insights summary), choose which baby it is for, and the response is written from your own logged data, streaming in as it is written. You can edit it like any note, save it to the family feed, or pin it above the timeline for the next carer. The AI hub is a Premium feature; the snapshot of the last feed, nappy change, and sleep on the baby card is free, and so is the "Try next" suggestion, which is computed on your device without any AI.
My baby was born early. Does BubSync use corrected age?
Yes. Tick one box when you add or edit your baby and add the estimated due date. Growth is then plotted on corrected age: before the due date against the INTERGROWTH-21st preterm standards, after it against WHO, running continuously across the crossover with a marker where the due date falls. Each measurement shows both ages, for example "2m 18d corrected, 4m 24d actual". Milestone suggestions and the AI hub’s schedules use corrected age too, and correction stops on its own at 24 months. The free baby age and growth percentile tools on this site do corrected age with no account at all.
What happens to my photos?
Every photo is re-encoded on your device before it is stored, which strips GPS location and camera metadata. A memory carries one audience for all of its photos, and by default that audience is the family you already built: the parents, plus anyone in your Family group. Carers do not see memories unless you say so. You can change that default for every memory at once on the Memories tab, or give a single memory an audience of its own: Parents only, Only me, or the people you name. On the free tier photos stay on the device and are never uploaded. On Premium they sync encrypted, and access is checked against the audience every time a photo is opened. A photo taken with the in-app camera is also saved to your camera roll, so BubSync is never the only copy. If Premium lapses, cloud copies are kept for at least 30 days and then removed.
Are milestones mixed in with my activity feed?
No. Milestones are treated as memories, not tracked activities, so they live in the Memories tab and never clutter your Home timeline, history, or insights. Your daily logging stays focused on feeds, sleep, and nappy changes.

Privacy & data

Where is my data stored?
BubSync stores primary account and family activity data in AWS ap-southeast-2 (Sydney). Static web delivery also uses CloudFront global edge services and us-east-1 support resources. See our Privacy Policy for details on routing metadata, cross-border safeguards, and retention.
Do you sell my data?
Never. Your baby's data is private to your family. We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion needs a one-time code emailed to your verified address on top of the confirmation, so an accidental tap cannot erase your family. The code is single use and expires after ten minutes. We aim to remove active account data within 30 days. Encrypted disaster-recovery backups may remain for up to 35 days and are not accessible to users. If you have a subscription, deleting the account does not cancel store billing, so cancel that in the App Store or Google Play as well.
Is BubSync GDPR compliant?
BubSync is built around GDPR and Australian Privacy Act principles, including access and deletion rights. See our Privacy Policy for the current details on storage, retention, and your rights.
